Visual Noise

Like it's aural partner,
the mental white noise
filling in the spaces between.

When it's hard to sleep,
or maybe all you can do
like it's aural partner

a painted lullaby for the masses--
your mind will create a picture of
the mental white noise.

Will it sail you of to sleep
or detain you on sleepless shores,
filling the spaces in between

of dragons and pirates,
sometimes, you know very well
When it's hard to sleep

and you lay upon your bed,
questing for white mental bliss
or maybe all you can do

to channel all those thoughts
into a wall that will block it out
like it's aural partner.

  1. Your poem reminded me of my own struggles with insomnia.
"a painted lullaby for the masses--/your mind will create a picture of/the mental white noise./Will it sail you of to sleep/or detain you on sleepless shores,/filling the spaces in between"
    This expressed it beautifully!
