Second Feud

In a moment I forgot 
of time, all that I was taught.

That when you acquire some joy
that time becomes a jester's ploy.

Stealing moments away in delight
like a ravenous dragon to fight.

Because a euphoric love came to play
and time was left, of course to run away.

A mocking poem about how the feelings and time can be at odds. Can you see what I do with that? Who are my characters in this poem? What do you think, Dear Readers? This form is a rhymed and metered form, which is a challenge, because I have to have rhymer.com, dictionary.com, and count EVERY lines syllables. 'Twas a bit o' work, but methinks it indeed worked.

I really was at a loss for love tonight. It isn't for a lack of love, but it's for the small things that make us, myself included, feel loved. Today's poem is just that simple; love shown in the simplest way(s). How do you show you love someone in the simplest ways, Dear Reader? I usually buy someone their favourite coffee, with all of their favourite additions; do their dishes; give them a random present because the pig earrings remind you of them.

Just Take It

That moment when you
find there is one last donut--
they didn't eat it.



Love is taking the last donut left for you!

I don't really dig free verse anymore. I loved it in high school; I wrote of it is college, but now I prefer writing in poetic forms all sorts. Something I have learned about writing is that you sometimes need to return to what you knew back in  the day. So, today, Dear Readers, I return to free verse for OctPoWriMo Day #1.

Today's poem is about that special type of love, Self Love, and discovering it. It is a hard love to find, but it is a beautiful and wonderful love. I hope you enjoy, Dear Readers.

OctPoWriMo: When will it Rain

Poetry Prompt: Loop Poem. I did one of these not too long ago for a prompt. am just a little bit excited to be trying it again. Its a great form to write in stream of consciousness. At least this of was very easy to write. the picture provided a bit of fodder for the poem and someone else filled in the gaps. Shhh, that's the secret! :-) I feel really good about this poem and i hope you enjoy reading it, Dear Readers.

How to Loop 101: There are no restrictions on meter or syllables or rhyme schemes (YAY!). BUT we have a few rules!

Take the last word of a line. Skip a line. Use that word as the first word of that line. I know, sounds harder than it is, so basically take the last word of the FIRST line and use it as the first word of the THIRD line. Take the last word of the SECOND line and use it as the first word of the FORTH line. Last word of the THIRD line is the first word of the FIFTH line. And it keeps going on and on like that. Some people do it by stanzas. There is also a variation where there's no skipping and the last word of the line simply becomes the first word of the next line. Simpler, but personally I think it's a LOT harder. Got it? Sounds fun right!

When Will it Rain

When all the days seem to blur together

The memory of the rain once
Skies are still clear
once there was rain is the desert.
Clear of everything, but raw emotion
desert lands parched, but for love.
Emotion quenches my thirst
Love makes me thirsty.
Thirst for your lips upon mine,
Thirsty I am
Mine waiting for yours
Am waiting under the sun
Yours is the only one I desire

OctPoWriMo: A Diagnosis

Love comes in some many forms: romantic, friendship, sexual, intellectual, spiritual, just to name a few. Imagine the people you love. How do you love them? Why do you love them?


Today's prompt is about love. I took the word Basorexia which is sexuoeroticism linked to kissing or the strong desire to kiss. What if Basorexia was considered a disease? How would someone feel about having it?

Word Prompts: Love, Heartbreak, Tacenda- "things better left unsaid", Basorexia - "The strong desire to kiss".

something with a strange name,
Basorexia, is what he said.
Funny, I have never heard of it.

Something with a strange name

“Remember when you were sick that weekend?” Sasha said at the table. “And I had to make you chicken bouillon in your microwave?” while watching tiny sparrows fight at the plastic feeder hanging on the porch.

“Well, no actually,” said Myron.

“Oh come on,” she said, “You mumbled in your sleep that night, ‘Gotta catch the viruses,’” she giggled in the early morning sunshine streaming into the kitchen.

“Oh, right. Well, I remember the time you hallucinated in your sleep, he said.”

“Dreaming?”

“Okay, dreaming. You said, ‘Get the frogs after them’.”

“Okay, touché,” she said smiling at him.

OctPoWriMo Day 29: Phases

Poetry Prompts: What phase of love are you in, before, during, or after? Are you dancing with euphoria or

Something new and something old in today's poem. I figured since today prompt reminded me of past loves, crushes, and romantic attachments of a sort, that I would take you down the road of those feelings. I think of these feelings as phases of a moon (relationship), especially the more outlandish ones. Imagine a youth, male or female, discovering love for the first time and what it does to he or she...

Poetry Form: Etheree, consists of 10 lines of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 syllables. Reversed Etheree: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Double Etheree: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 9, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...Triple Etheree, Quadruple Etheree, and so on!

OctPoWriMo: The Tri-fall!



A Tri-Fall. That is what style recommended and this means I am going to attempt it. A tri-fall is a three stanza poem of six lines each, following a rhyme and metered pattern of A, B, C, A, B, C and 6/3/8/6/3/8. Quite a challenging form, indeed.

I actually had a chance to brain storm today during the day job for a few hours. Not that I was slacking, but I had a few moments where I could let my mind wandered.

Today's prompt is SWEET, CANDY, SUGAR, INDULGENCE, and while I had my pick of topic, everything from cheesecake to my husband. I was a little worried that I wasn't going to find my muse. There were a number of ways I could have taken the sweet or sugary approach too. 



I wanted something different. I want sweet to be a person. Sweet can mean love, and I know a Love, Sara Love. I then channeled Neil Gaiman and wrote a poem in the vein of Stardust, but NOT. A lady as sweet as everything and joyous as the heavens.


Proposal of a Star

It is because of you, Dear
That I write--
For a love that burns in your core.
The sweetest star here,
Glowing bright
That hardly do I not feel poor.

If emotions were means
I would be
A lonely Prince among the stars.
But one boon then, my Queen--
May I see
Something that takes my unseen scars?

Loving you I have done,
But lonely.
Yet I find myself quite living.
Will you please join the fun?
Come and see
A world, to you I am giving.
