OctPoWriMo and Writober: Day 5 -Tanka and Pantoum

 Today is uninspiring, but I have something for you, dear Readers. Sometimes I just don't have much to write about, or a lack of words to say. So, please enjoy today's fare...

Prompt: Success/Fear/Euphony (Tanka)

Waging Wars

After its over

When thinking begins again

Was I good enough?

Am I deserving of this?

Battling my fears again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the Dark (A Pantoum Story)
This is not a story that I am telling
I am not writing words to entertain.
I am simply writing words down
As a dark figure whispers in my ear.
I am not writing words to entertain,
I am writing words I am told to write.
As a dark figure whispers in my ear
That I only have the night.
I am writing words I am told to write
Like my life may depend on it,
That I only have the night
To finish what I am writing.
Like my life may depend on it,
Writing words in a certain order.
To finish what I am writing
By this dark figure at my side.
Writing words in a certain order--
I am simply writing words down
By this dark figure at my side
This is not a story that I am telling.
OctPoWriMo: Day 5
Shapes and Rhymes!! Oh bloody hell! I figured I would get to a day that would make me NOT want to follow the prompt to the letter. It happens every time. I usually get a bit further before I look at the poetic forms and/or the word prompts and say "FORGET IT!"
I am not one to give up so easily on a form, but the two forms are shape poetry. That involves writing a poem in the shape of the topic. It sounds easy, but you make to have a plan. I don't! Then there is Licentia Rhyme, and involves three stanzas and rhyme and 12 lines per stanza and 11 syllables per line. It is making my eyes cross and my shoulders twitch.
~SIGH~
I need to  not be so, 'but do I need to write in that form today? sheeeesh!!' I am very much in that frame of mind, but I need a poem and refuse to write anything subpar. Soooooo....
The best use of this prompt  is brought about by a very usually dream. It was not scary, but very thorough journey through a time that I sometimes like to forget. It wasn't a particularly bad time, but I generally try to not think about it. Maybe, I need to...
It was a weird thing to suddenly bring up to my subconscious. I guess that means poetry fodder. Thanks OctPoWriMo. Leave me some love below, Dear Readers!
Topic: Healing / Poetic Form: Tanka
Surprise Fix
Not with a band-aid;
the process begins here, but
after time passing
you find a fall down rabbit
holes, healing you didn't need.
OctPoWriMo Day #2: (Sing)
Word Prompts: sing, redrafts, practice, scribbles, loving
Poetic Form: Tanka or Cinquain
A Tanka is a metered poem, following the style of the haiku, but adding two 7 syllable lines after the standard haiku (5/7/5/7/7). I wasn't really inspired to write a poem with this until I watch a video, randomly, mind  you, of Jim Henson's colleagues singing his favourite songs at his memorial. The one song that stood out was "Just One Person". The words are simple, but the message is strong, and after this past month, it was a solid reminder that I do have believe who believe in me. "If just one person believes in you, deep enough and strong enough, believes in you, hard enough and long enough, before you know it...two whole people believe in you..." May I present my offering to the to goddess and muse, Erato, of the Lyric Poetry.
That One Moment
Singular moment--
when the swelling bridge begins
and there are no words,
your heart knows what it's doing,
"If just one person believes..."
There is not much more to say, Dear Readers. Thank you!
