OctPoWriMo: Day 21 (Tasty?)

 OctPoWriMo

Prompt:  Explosive, Taste / Poetic Form: Synchronicity

Dare to Taste

Take a small dollop,

Scoop it up.

Be ready...

Explosive taste

as slides down,

the creamy and the sacred.

It is everything you imagine?

Beware, because

maybe it is slimy?

No taste?

Just a runny mess and

more of a nightmare.

Culinary adventures abound.

OctPoWriMo - Day 25 - Satisfaction (Ode to Satisfy)

The Prompt: In what ways to you taste satisfaction?

Word Prompts: taste, satisfaction, food, sample, accomplishment

Poetic Form: Perhaps an Ode would be appropriate.

Ode to Satisfy

With accomplishment
comes the satisfaction--
tasting,
eager,
joyous,
ravishing
to eye
and tongue.

Desire,
that burns within
stomachs
and hearts,
a longing for something
not currently possessed.

Sweet to taste,
like ambrosia,
maybe honey
or sucrose,
if never having tasted ambrosia;
can be sour too,
in the wrong doses.

Either way,
it can be addiciting,
like heroin,
deadly or life saving,
how will you satisfy yours?

Poem says it all, Dear Readers. I do have a question about writing poetry. Do you just write and let it be, or do you write and revise your poems until they sound right? I realized that I often write a poem and only revise (tinker) spelling, maybe some grammar work as necessary, and only  sometimes include actual revisions. Let me know how often to revise a poem after you write it. Enjoy!

OctPoWriMo - Day 3 - Cheritas (Too Hot)

Dear Readers, I have found a form that works wonders with my brain. The Cherita, a Malaysian poetic form, is like storytelling and songwriting without the rhyming and meter. There isn't  even any repetition. Cherita means story, and I'm excited to try it out.

Also, technically they are untitled poems, but I'm in the habit of titling my poems.

Writing Prompt: Metal, Taste, Taste of Metal

Too Hot

Licking my lips

From the last meal,
the metallic burn leeching

Onto my tongue,
nothing else remains
but charred steel.

Leave me some love below...

Day #17 - Poetry of the Senses

Today I write a poem using my 5 senses. Nice and simple? Good. I leave you, Dear Readers to enjoy my Morning Rituals.

Morning Senses

In the early hours of the morning,
After I have arisen
And the sun’s rays trickle in through the windows.
When I am awake enough
To see through blurry eyes,
The sun shines in
And I can see,
I can SEE!

In the early hours of the morning,
When I am up
And preparing my day,
I am sitting in my library
My ears are turned to the window.
There is birdsong echoing
Across the power lines.
They are singing the songs
Of the morning and sunshine
And I can hear,
I can HEAR!

In the early hours of the morning,
When I am seek blessedly new
And my skin is still quite asleep;
I am quite jarred by the sensation
Of cold upon bare skin
When my feet touch the crisp chilly air
And then do I make the motion
To find my extra soft and fuzzy socks.
And I can feel the warmth returning,
I can FEEL!

In the early hours of the morning,
After I am dressed,
Then I brew the coffee,
Like ritual I filled the water basin\
And scoop the coffee ground.
I feel like chanting the ancient rites
Upon the first scent of the
Rich nectar of the Gods.
And I can smell the morning,
I can SMELL!

In the early hours of the morning,
After all that has proceeded me
I am ready to take the morning’s communion.
Freshly brewed coffee,
After the senses are awaken
I am ready to feast
Upon the liquid gold
That in my cup.
And then I can taste it,
I can TASTE!
