Sunny Sunday: A ROW80 check-in

This morning I have been cleaning out emails and doing other internet house keeping. And DAYMN! This is the worst kind of housecleaning....

Anyway, it's been a week since "The Tempest" finished, Improv has started, and two weeks LCP's Junior Player perform "Zombeo and Juliet". I have begun the May feeling a bit worn, but also with determination. I have two potential poetry anthologies to put together and edit (well, I always end up editing my poem, sometimes years after they were written). This weekend I started playing with Microsoft Publisher, putting my NaPoWriMo poem onto pages, making them look nice, and general editing. I want to finally make good on the publishing goal from last Round 1 of ROW80.

It's a good day. We also, just received a new furr baby, Cheez-it, who is currently exploring the house and getting accustomed to Lucy, and vica versa. So far, so good, just a little hissing when Lucy gets too close to Cheez for his comfort. It's kinda cute to watch. Glad this is happening on a Sunday. Means time to adjust.

Also, been working on general housework, laundry, dishes, and the like. Gonna need more coffee and some additional motivstion today, it's still early though. Maybe I will work on my WIPs later today. Going to enjoy this Sunny, if Breezy Sunday and listen to music, drink coffee and work on my writing stuffs, Dear Readers.

Have a fantastic day! Go check out my fellow ROW80 bloggers/writers at the Blog Hop! Also, enjoy some of my choice of music this afternoon.

A to Z Challenge: C is for Cats (that's good enough for me)

When it comes to pets, I have had cats more often than any other type of critter. Oh, not that I discriminate! There was Max the giant golden retriever mix that well found on the side of the road when I was 6, and then there was my hamster Carmel from when I was 13. But over the years I have had cats in my life most often.

There is something special and sweet about the feline purr-suasion (okay that was not punny!).  Cats are very intelligent creatures, very loving, and very dedicated, even if some folks don't think so. What others fail to realize is that cats are like any creature, they need love, attention, and someone to socialize with. I have grown accustom to their nature. If a kitten is not properly socialized young, then it grows into a aloof and distant cat that only comes around when there's food or the litter needs changing. People, I think, believe that cats can take care of themselves. While this is very true, cats are also creatures with personalities and (if you will) feelings.

I have been owned by cats (and any cat person will understand this statement) who have been attuned to my wavelengths. Although sometimes cats just prefer to be by themselves too. They knew when I was sad, angry, or just needed all of their 20 pounds sitting on my chest at night, trying to sleep. This is why I feel that cats are one of the best types of pet companions, as long as you are not deathly allergic; I then would defer you to a dog or hamster or fish (depending on your living arrangement and cost of living, not to mention if you  have the time to devote to the pet). I will never force cats onto non-cat people, but I do like to education folks on what I know of cats. I hate to see mistreatment where education could have prevented it.

Anyway, cats are lovely people and here are a few of my babies over the years, Lucy being the current.

It's a quickie blog this morning, and I have so much still to do, Dear Readers. I shall catch you on the flip side. Enjoy my kitties and have a fantastic day!!

Playwright? You bet....

So, my writing was selected and (2-1 acts) performed at a fundraiser spaghetti dinner Mother's Day weekend by the Keuka Lake Players. Wow!

I am still in shock over this. That my writing is good enough to be selected is still blowing my mind. I haven't always wanted to be a writer; at first it was a veterinarian, then a librarian, now it's definitely a writer. I definitely loved books, I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to be a librarian, but there is something about writing that gets me going.

My good friend Leah told me last night, after the dinner where I was presented this this beautiful certificate you see above, "God loves the Creative process." Those word really stuck with me. The Creator, God, Goddess, Yahweh, Jehovah, Allah, Mother, Father (you name a name and I will include it. You get the picture) seems to really thrive within the creative. I can see a number of creative folks who are spiritual in some sense of the word (it's not an exclusive thing either), as spiritual can be how you feel about science, nature, god, the universe, or the Doctor :-). This is a religious/faith based blog, per se, but it resonated that the Powers of the Universe really enjoy this creative process.

Writing is much like giving birth to a child, there is pain, but also this profound sense of completion (not having kids I can only imagine, but I have plenty of friends who have told me something akin to this). It's not just writing either, when I directed "Charlotte's Web" or assisted Directed "Sweeney Todd" I felt a closeness to something greater. I put my whole into those projects, so that other people could enjoy these things too. Because of that, I would like to think I have made the world a better place by making (birthing) something beautiful. It's probably why I am an actor too. When I am onstage, my world becomes that part I am playing. These are the things that truly make me happy, but writing has become the thing MOST close to my heart.

If you were to ask me, I would say that I am a poet first, but after this past year, writing plays has certainly moved up on my list. I have also wrote a novel (still in the editing process) and a screenplay (also in process). I am not limiting myself, I am writing anything and everything I can. I want to be a writer! I am a writer.

Something that is also important, and has proven to help me grow as a writer is that bolstering of talent amongst my fellows, both young and older. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing others create and thrive because I helped give them a chance, that I believed  in them (and continue to do so), and that  I will not let them fall (not my words originally, but that are so profound). This was the case during the Lake Country Players 1st 24 Hour Theatre. I saw new writers, directors, and actors making amazingly beautiful things for the world to enjoy. I also saw amazingly awesome things during Charlotte's Web, which I also feel that way about. The talent that was in that show blew me away, and I got to help feed the talent and confidences in all of those actors and crew members. It really does do my heart good.

To all those out there; I believe in you! Go out there and make something beautiful! Inspire others! Keep watch and be good to others both hominid and animalian. :-) I leave you with a quick poem about:

A Man and His Cat
Lucy on David's Butt!

When you walk,
walk slow
I will follow.
To you you might not see
that I am really listening,
but remeber
I am always there
upon your lap
or by your feet.
A sound reminder that
I have not left.
