OctPoWriMo: A Diagnosis

Love comes in some many forms: romantic, friendship, sexual, intellectual, spiritual, just to name a few. Imagine the people you love. How do you love them? Why do you love them?

Today's prompt is about love. I took the word Basorexia which is sexuoeroticism linked to kissing or the strong desire to kiss. What if Basorexia was considered a disease? How would someone feel about having it?

Word Prompts: Love, Heartbreak, Tacenda- "things better left unsaid", Basorexia - "The strong desire to kiss".

Come and check out my fellow OctPoWriMoes here.

A Diagnosis

From MorgueFile
The Doctor said it was a condition
something with a strange name,
Basorexia, is what he said.
Funny, I have never heard of it.

Something with a strange name
and I want to kiss everyone in sight.
Funny, I have never hear of it
so, is it life threatening?

And I want to kiss everyone in sight
with a firey passion, welling up--
so, is it life threatening
this magnetic pull that I have?

With a firey passion, welling up
because you are so close
this magnetic pull that I have.
Oh, I hope it's not catching!

Because you are so close
I want to feel--
Oh, I hope it's not catching--
the warmth of your kiss.

I want to to feel
slowly fill my veins and nerves with
the warmth of your kiss
and it doesn't matter who you are.

Slowly fill my veins and nerves with
joy that only comes from loving
and it doesn't matter who you are,
I will still kiss you all the same.

Joy that only comes from loving,
Basorexia, is what he said.
I will kiss you all the same--
the Doctor said it was a condition.

  1. I think your subject was perfect for the poetry form :D I loved how images and sound echoed and cascaded down

  2. Seems like this condition would heal the world, doesn't it? Spread some love... or germs, I suppose, but I'd rather think it would change some bad attitudes. Nicely done.
