Day #17 - Poetry of the Senses

Today I write a poem using my 5 senses. Nice and simple? Good. I leave you, Dear Readers to enjoy my Morning Rituals.

Morning Senses

In the early hours of the morning,
After I have arisen
And the sun’s rays trickle in through the windows.
When I am awake enough
To see through blurry eyes,
The sun shines in
And I can see,
I can SEE!

In the early hours of the morning,
When I am up
And preparing my day,
I am sitting in my library
My ears are turned to the window.
There is birdsong echoing
Across the power lines.
They are singing the songs
Of the morning and sunshine
And I can hear,
I can HEAR!

In the early hours of the morning,
When I am seek blessedly new
And my skin is still quite asleep;
I am quite jarred by the sensation
Of cold upon bare skin
When my feet touch the crisp chilly air
And then do I make the motion
To find my extra soft and fuzzy socks.
And I can feel the warmth returning,
I can FEEL!

In the early hours of the morning,
After I am dressed,
Then I brew the coffee,
Like ritual I filled the water basin\
And scoop the coffee ground.
I feel like chanting the ancient rites
Upon the first scent of the
Rich nectar of the Gods.
And I can smell the morning,
I can SMELL!

In the early hours of the morning,
After all that has proceeded me
I am ready to take the morning’s communion.
Freshly brewed coffee,
After the senses are awaken
I am ready to feast
Upon the liquid gold
That in my cup.
And then I can taste it,
I can TASTE!
